Campaigns

A campaign ties three things together: an agent (its prompt and its first message), a WhatsApp number that sends, and the contacts it talks to. Everything else, conversations, meetings, analytics, flows from it.

From Campaigns, start a new campaign. The Create a campaign page offers two paths.

Path For whom What you provide
Let Setty build it (recommended) You have no prompt yet. Your website, a page or a PDF, or a few answers if you have no material. The agent’s first name, its goal (book meetings, hand off to a human, send a payment link, or answer and help). Setty assembles the behavior and the first message.
I already have my prompt (Express) You have a finished prompt. Campaign name, Agent name, Agent language, your Behavior prompt pasted as is, and either the Default opener or your own first-message prompt. Nothing is rewritten by the AI.

Both paths end with a campaign in Drafts, ready to be tested in the Playground before you activate it. The guided path is described step by step in Create your AI agent.

The Campaigns page groups your campaigns in three sections.

Section What it means for sending
Drafts The campaign exists, nothing is sent. Drafts are free and do not count in your plan.
Active First messages go out to the leads of its lists and the agent replies. Counts in your active-campaign pool.
Paused Nothing is sent. Leads waiting in the queue stay there and are neither contacted nor lost. Conversations stay visible.

The line at the top of the page, for example “1/3 active (setter + groups) · free drafts”, shows how much of your pool is used.

Pause and Resume sit on the campaign row and in the campaign drawer. The change is immediate.

  • Pausing stops the sending without touching the WhatsApp number: it stays connected and you resume in one click, no QR code to scan again.
  • Resuming checks your plan first. If your pool of active campaigns is full, you get a message asking you to pause another campaign or upgrade.

You can also pause and resume through the API.

Your plan sets how many campaigns run at the same time, group campaigns included: 1 on Starter, 3 on Business, 10 on Scale. Activating one more campaign than the pool allows is refused until you pause another one. Details on Plan & billing.

Each campaign is linked to one connected WhatsApp number: the agent’s number. It sends the first messages and the replies. The WhatsApp number section of the campaign drawer shows which one and lets you change it; switching is instant and the previous number stays connected for another campaign.

If the number disconnects, the campaign keeps its status but shows a Disconnected badge and the note that no message will be sent until you reconnect it. Turn on Disconnection alerts in the drawer to receive an email when it happens.

Click a campaign to open its drawer. From top to bottom:

  • Edit Prompt opens the prompt editor; Test Agent opens the Playground.
  • WhatsApp number: the linked number.
  • Identity: campaign name, agent name, website and calendar links.
  • Knowledge base: the documents the agent can look up, see Knowledge base.
  • Notifications: an email and a webhook when a lead qualifies.
  • In-chat booking: let the agent offer meeting slots, see Meetings.
  • Disconnection alerts: the email sent when the number drops.

Click Save Changes when you are done.

The first message is written by the agent from a short brief, edited on the First message tab of the prompt editor. It has five sections: introduction, tone and personality, the opening question, format and constraints, examples to imitate.

You can insert variables in that brief. The Variables panel groups them:

Group Examples Filled from
Your campaign {{agent_name}}, {{company_name}}, {{offer_description}}, {{goal_link}} Your onboarding answers. Click a row to edit the value.
Your style your voice settings The My Style panel of the prompt editor.
Your variables anything you define Values you type once for the campaign.
Per lead {{first_name}}, {{lead:column}} The contact itself, at send time.

{{first_name}} is the contact’s first name. {{lead:column}} reads any column of the list the contact came from ({{lead:city}}, {{lead:company}}). Per-lead variables only work in the first message; when a contact has no value for a column, a visible marker replaces it and the agent is told not to invent one. See Lists for the columns.

To test several first messages at once, see A/B variants.

The pace is set when you launch a list on the campaign, from Lists:

  • Daily Target: how many new contacts per day. The wizard recommends 30 per number and caps you at 40, at your own risk.
  • Sending windows: the hours during which first messages go out, 09:00 to 18:00 by default, with up to 6 windows.
  • Active Days: weekdays by default.
  • Timezone of those windows.
  • Warmup: the volume ramps up over 7 days on a fresh number.

A number never writes twice to the same person unless you turn on Re-contact already-messaged leads, and even then only people who never replied are contacted again. These limits are part of the anti-ban protection.

Duplicate, at the bottom of the drawer, creates a copy in Drafts with the same prompts, knowledge base, notifications and booking settings. The copy has no number, no leads and zeroed statistics: you pick a number and lists for it as for any new campaign.

Delete, at the bottom of the drawer, opens Delete campaign?. Deleting is permanent and disconnects the WhatsApp session linked to the campaign. If you only want to stop sending, use Pause instead.
